the Fintri Name

The word FINTRI comes from a small place in a tiny village in Hardanger, Norway. I grew up hearing it used to describe small, beautiful treasures — little things you might find out in nature, at a flea market or the triftstore.

It’s a word that has been passed down through generations in my family, though it’s not well known outside our village. I felt it was the perfect name for my brand, since I create small, lovely handmade pieces.

As a child, I often heard the word on walks along the beach or in the forest, when we found seashells, pinecones, or pieces of sea glass.

FINTRI is pronounced “Fint-ri” and can be used in sentences like:
“Did you find any fintri?”
“There’s so much fintri here.”
or “She sells a lot of fintri.”

Candle sand

Candle sand is an innovative alternative to traditional candles, designed for effortless use, customization, and reusability. Simply pour the sand into a heat-safe container, place a wick, and light.

the Benefits

One of the greatest benefits of candle sand is its self-extinguishing quality, making it a safer alternative to traditional candles. If a pillar candle tips over, it can continue to burn, creating a serious fire hazard and leaving behind difficult-to-remove wax. Candle sand, however, extinguishes itself when accidentally knocked over. The sand smothers the flame instantly, and any spilled sand is easy to sweep up and reuse — combining safety, convenience, and sustainability.

the Reuse

Once the candle has finished burning and cooled down, the remaining sand can be reused by simply replacing the wick or turning it upside down. The melted sand around the wick, can be reused by breaking it up into sand again or by using the same wick.

the Best Candle Sand Tips

  • Place the wick far enought down; between 0.5 -1cm over the sand.

  • After pouring the candle sand in your conteiner, give it a little shake, to make a flat surface before placing your wick.

  • When blowing out the candle, blow softly! Otherwise the sand will be blown out of the conteiner.

  • Make sure the melted wax is cooled down complitly befor lifting it out.

  • If the meltet wax gets in contact with the jesmonite conteiner, it may be hard to clean.
